Aliko Dangote ready to redeem $1million promise to Super Eagles

Billionaire business man Aliko Dangote says he is ready to redeem his promise of awarding $1m to the Super Eagles for winning the 2013 African Cup of Nations last year in South Africa. He said this a few days after goal keeper and Super Eagles vice-captain Vincent Enyeama begged him and others who pledged various things to the team to fulfill their promises.
"We understand the busy schedule of Alhaji Dangote, we are just asking his aides to help remind him of the promise to us. It’s just a reminder to patriots who are very busy and may not have been prompted after they made their pledges, because the players are determined to bring more honours to fatherland at the forthcoming World Cup” Enyeama said
Speaking with BBC Sports, Dangote said the only reason he hasn't redeemed his promise was because nobody from the team or NFF had contacted him
"We’ve been waiting for Nigerian officials to collect the money but nobody has written to us. We will write to them, asking for the account numbers of the players, then we’ll make the transfer immediately.”

Cristiano Ronaldo declared World's Richest Footballer with €148m

Today Monday March 10th, popular football website Goal.com released their Rich List and declared Real Madrid and Portugal striker Cristiano Ronaldo as the richest active footballer in the world.

The World Footballer of the Year held off rival Lionel Messi in the 2014 Goal Rich List with an estimated wealth of €148million. Retired footballer David Beckham was the 2013 Goal Rich List winner but since he's retired from football, he's no longer eligible to be put in the list.

Messi comes second with an estimated net worth of €146million followed by Eto'o with €85million then Wayne Rooney with €84million, and Kaka rounds off the top 5 with €82million.

Presidency defends Abacha’s Centenary Award honour

President Jonathan's spokesman Reuben Abati has explained why late military dictator Gen. Sani Abacha was given the controversial Centenary Award, saying that the government was in no way supporting corrupt practices...
"This (award) does not in any means translate to supporting sharp practices or corrupt practices. It is important to make the clear distinction in this regard.
I think it is important to make the necessary distinction here. The centenary award, like every award, has its own criteria. That centenary award was in relation to the amalgamation, the national unity, the history of Nigeria and the roles played by certain individuals.
The centenary award was not a test of sainthood. In giving the award to the former Head of State, Gen. Abacha, the committee in charge made it very clear that the award in the category in which the former Head of State appeared was awarded with regard to the contributions of those individuals in keeping Nigeria together." You have a boss who has shown you in every way that each time he looks at you, all he sees is you naked and in bed with him. Quite alright, you are soo single, in your late twenties, attractive woman. The salary you earn is very good too. You really need the money as well. Then your boss, though he's not the most superior, is a married man, in his fourties with kids.

Everyday at the office, once the opportunity presents itself, he tries to touch your boobs or tap your butt. For example, he always has a 'good' stupid reason for bumping into you and his hands brushing your boobs or bum. One thing or the other. According to NewYorkPost, Anna and Lucy DeCinque have had countless procedures in their bid to look exactly like each other - breast implants, lip enhancements and tattooed eyebrows.
The ladies also undergo weekly skin peels and infra-red sauna treatments, ensure they have the same diets,
exercise routines and wear the same clothes and shoes.

And about their love life, Anna told the New York Post:
“We’re dating one boy at the moment. There are three people in our relationship. We’re sharing.”
Lucy added swiftly:

Spoilt Brat: Teenage Girl Sues Her Parents For Money

This case you are about to read has gone viral and is currently trending in the United States. Just imagine this happening in Nigeria.

A New Jersey teenager, 18 years old Rachel Canning, has sued her parents because, she claims, they threw her out of the house when she turned 18 and refused to pay for her private high school and college education.

According to Rachel, her mother and father kicked her out of their home and cut her off financially when she
turned 18, November 1st 2013, and that they have been mean to her. She also claimed abuse, even though there's no evidence of that other than a yelling match a school official witnessed between Canning and her mother.

So, in the lawsuit, Rachel asked the court to force her parents to pay her living and transportation expenses for the foreseeable future, pay the outstanding tuition for her private high school, use money from an existing college fund to pay for at least some of her college education.

 The parents, meanwhile, say that daughter Rachel Canning, 18, is “an incredibly rebellious teen.” Rachel's father, Sean Canning, a town administrator and retired police officer, said he and wife never kicked Rachel out at all. Instead, he explains, she up and left on her own in late October because she didn’t want to abide by her parents’ rules.  He said:
We love our child and miss her. This is terrible. It’s killing me and my wife. We have a child we want home. We’re not Draconian and now we’re getting hauled into court.
Rachel's parents say they asked her to reconsider her relationship with a boyfriend they believe may be a bad influence, but Rachel would hear none of that. She's not respectful, she won't abide by her curfew.
“Living in our house, there’s very few things. There’s minor chores. There’s curfews. When I say curfew, it’s usually after 11 o’clock at night. She’s demanding that we pay her bills but she doesn’t want to live at home, and she’s saying, ‘I don’t want to live under your rules.’”
For months now, Rachel — an honor student, cheerleader, and lacrosse player — has been living with her best friend, Jaime Inglesino's family. And Jaime's father, attorney John Inglesino, is bankrolling Rachel’s lawsuit. He’s also requesting in the lawsuit that the Cannings reimburse him for the legal fees, so far totaling $12,597 (over N2million).

80s R&B singer Miki Howard's son Brandon claims he has proof that Michael Jackson is his father.

Michael Jackson has a 31-year-old son - at least that's what the man claims - and we're told he plans to go public on Thursday with what he believes is ironclad DNA evidence.
His name is Brandon Howard - the son of singer Miki Howard, whom Joe Jackson represented back in the 1980s. Sources close to Brandon tell us, Miki and MJ met in 1982 and Brandon was born soon after.
As for why B Howard is so sure he's MJ's son ... our sources say he somehow acquired DNA from an old orthodontic device worn by Michael ... it's unclear how he got hold of it, but we're told the test results show a match.
The results will be unveiled Thursday on FilmOn.com. Oh yeah ... once the DNA results are revealed, he plans to go after the MJ Estate for money.
MJ estate lawyer Howard Weitzman tells TMZ, "We've never even heard from him," adding, "Any deadline for claiming to be Michael's child has long since passed."

FG closes Federal Government Colleges in Yobe, Borno, Adamawa

Following the killing of over 40 students of the Federal Government College in Yobe State by Boko Haram members, the Federal Government has shut five FG colleges in Yobe, Borno and Adamawa

The schools that were shut down are:
*Federal Government Girls College, Munguno
*Federal Science and Technical College, Lassa in Borno
*Federal Government College, Potiskum
*Federal Government College, Buni Yadi in Yobe
*Federal Science and Technical College, Michika, Adamawa.

Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, made this known yesterday Wednesday March 5th. The schools were closed because they were considered to be located 'within the high security risk areas in the North.'. The schools will remain closed until the security situation in the states improves, while the teachers of the affected schools will be sent to new schools.

US Government freezes $458million Sani Abacha cash

The United States government today March 5th said it had ordered a freeze on $458 million in assets hidden in European accounts by former Nigerian dictator Sani Abacha and his conspirators.

PM News reports that the Justice Department said the corruption proceeds, stashed away in bank accounts in Britain, France and Jersey, were frozen at Washington’s request with the help of local authorities.
Abacha died in office in 1998, but his surviving relatives still include some of the richest and most influential figures in Nigeria.
According to a civil forfeiture complaint unsealed in the US District Court in Washington, the department wants the recover more than $550 million in connection with the action.
“This is the largest civil forfeiture action to recover the proceeds of foreign official corruption ever brought by the department,” said Mythili Raman, acting assistant attorney general.
“General Abacha was one of the most notorious kleptocrats in memory, who embezzled billions from the people of Nigeria while millions lived in poverty,” she said.

The Justice Department said the assets frozen — along with additional assets named in the complaint — represent the “proceeds of corruption” during and after the military regime of Abacha, who became president of Nigeria through a military coup on November 17, 1993 and held that office until his death on June 8, 1998.

The complaint alleges that Abacha, his son Mohammed Sani Abacha, their associate Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and others “embezzled, misappropriated and extorted billions from the government of Nigeria and others, then laundered their criminal proceeds through the purchase of bonds backed by the United States using US financial institutions.”

Raman said that the action sends a “clear message” that the United States is “determined and equipped to confiscate the ill-gotten riches of corrupt leaders who drain the resources of their countries.”

The US government’s Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Initiative “where appropriate” provides for the return of stolen proceeds “to benefit the people harmed by these acts of corruption and abuse of office.”

It did not specify what action would be taken with regard to the Abacha case.
The funds frozen include approximately $313 million in two bank accounts in the Bailiwick of Jersey and $145 million in two bank accounts in France, the department said.

Four investment portfolios and three bank accounts in Britain were frozen, with an estimated value of at least $100 million but the exact amounts in the accounts have not yet been determined, it said.
The Justice Department said that on February 25 and 26, authorities in Jersey, France and Britain complied with the US action to freeze the assets.

The complaint also seeks to freeze five corporate entities registered in the British Virgin Islands.
According to the complaint, Abacha and others systematically embezzled billions of dollars in public funds from Nigeria’s central bank on the false pretense that the funds were necessary for national security. They withdrew the funds in cash and then moved the money overseas through US financial institutions.

Abacha and his finance minister, Anthony Ani, also allegedly caused the Nigerian government to buy Nigerian government bonds at vastly inflated prices from a company controlled by Bagudu and Mohammed Abacha. That operation created an an illegal windfall of more than $282 million.
In addition, Abacha and his co-conspirators allegedly extorted more than $11 million from a French civil engineering company, Dumez, and its Nigerian affiliate in connection with payments on government contracts.

Funds involved in each of these schemes were laundered through the United States in nine financial institutions, the complaint alleged.
The financial institutions involved include Citibank, Chase Manhattan Bank and Morgan Guaranty Trust Company, now JPMorgan Chase, and New York-based units of Britain’s Barclays Bank and Germany’s Commerzbank.

Last week, at a ceremony to mark the centenary of Nigeria’s formation by colonial lords, the Nigerian government headed by Goodluck Jonathan honoured Abacha, along with other past leaders for services rendered to Nigeria.

Another day, another Boko Haram attack. This time in Jakana, Borno

Over 200 people have been killed in the last two weeks in some troubled northern states by Boko Haram insurgents. Another 35 was added to that list after gunmen carrying AK47 rifles, Rocket Propelled Launchers, Improvised Explosive Devices and petrol bombs, invaded Jakana village in Konduga LGA, Borno State around 7pm yesterday Monday March 3rd.

They slaughtered residents of the community and set their homes ablaze in a raid that lasted for hours. They also burnt down shops and a police station along the Maiduguri-Damaturu road.

The attack in Jakana comes barely 12 hours after gunmen killed over 36 people including 3 soldiers in the Mafa Council area of the state.
